Hi everyone,
some thoughts about Farmers Manual... they played live in my city (Grenoble,
south-east of France) last week and I was really excited about that but their
performance was really disapointing. They played two half-hour sets, the first
one sounded more like their CDs (fsck or CD1 from explorers_we) and the second
set was more noisy. They were experiencing some technical difficulties (they
were using the old, beat-up mixing desk from our rehearsal space downstairs
which was not working correctly) and seemed quite confused by this.
There were interesting moments, but overall the performance (or rather the
lack thereof: just three people kneeling on the stage playing CDs, MDs and
using their laptops) was way behind their excellent CDs. I was even really
bored by the second set. Too bad...
BTW, Farmers Manual have an exclusive track on Sub Rosa's compilation
"Underwood III" that's amazing. The whole comp is damn good too.
To wrap this up, I'll end with a question: does anyone know where to press 5"
vynil records? I'm looking for a plant (in Europe preferably) that does this;
any other info is welcome (i.e. how much music can you put on those, what is
their cost compared to "usual" formats, etc.)
Thanks, julien
